IE 9 or IE 7

IE 9 or IE 7

IE 9 or IE 7

I have IE9 loaded why are web sites tell me I have IE 7. I did a regedit and there is no MSIE 7.

What is telling these Websites I have IE 7.

RE: IE 9 or IE 7

Can you give an example. I lot of the time it's lousy website design....

Robert Wilensky:
We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not true.

RE: IE 9 or IE 7

This is a cool tool - http://www.fiddlertool.com/ua.aspx

Ive seen instances of various windows compenents showing different versions. Still have not found out why.

RE: IE 9 or IE 7

I ran fiddlertool and this is what it shows.
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/5.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; .NET4.0C)

I looked at the registry and found some MSIE 7.0. Changed them based on what fiddlertool suggested (Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]
"Version"="MSIE 9.0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]
"Version"="MSIE 9.0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector]

I'm still getting messages when I go to a website (e.golf channel) and it tells me I'm using and old IE 7.0 and I need to update.

RE: IE 9 or IE 7

Its fixed....

The display all websites in compatibility view box was checked.
Remove check and remove problem.

See Ben, it's the weird ones like this that make me glad your back. Next time you go on Holiday, give us a shout, and we'll save all the weird ones till you get back. thumbsup
