Setup 1140E as emergency phone (VOLO)

Setup 1140E as emergency phone (VOLO)

Setup 1140E as emergency phone (VOLO)

(OP)
Good morning,

What I'm trying to accomplish here is to setup 1140E phone as VOLO type. But each time I try to enter my VOLO TN on the set, I get err0088. This error tells to change the phone type on the TN.

I'm tying to do this because I would like to configure "dummie/emergency" phone and makes user login through Virtual office. I don't want to spend extra licences just to have dummie phone sitting there.

Hardware :

CS1000E 5.5 with latest patches
1140E phone type with last firmware

I already set a TN range for VOLO in LD 24, ESA.

For sure I'm missing config somewhere but It's the first time I'm playing with emergency phone.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I'm able to create the TN without problem. But When I try to put the TN on a 1140E phone type, I can't. I receive error ERR088.

And again, my goal is to put 1140E on the floor as emergency phone and have my agent login to the phone using Virtual Office.

Is it feasible?

Thank for answering though!

RE: Setup 1140E as emergency phone (VOLO)

ERR0088 Flexible Registration of IP Phone ZZZZ with hardware ID YYYY to TN XX is
not possible because the type of IP Phone is not compatible with the type of
TN block.

My understanding is that you dont enter the tn manually into the phone, a volo tn is dynamically assigned to a set on a temp basis when it is in a logged out state & makes an ESA call. The CS manages this and the time out of it & returns it into a pool of resource for the rest of the system.

Bye the sounds of it you just need to configure this set as a standard IP set, you should then assign it an ncos that cant dial anything but defined nembers eg: 999,911,112. You may also want to look at configuring OSN with it.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Configuring this set as a standard IP set means I have to spend license for nothing. I want to save on license and have the phone ready for Virtual Office. Of course, using a license and block through NCOS and CLS for limited dial will work but it's not my goal for now if I can do virtual office without taking a lots of licenses.

RE: Setup 1140E as emergency phone (VOLO)

well as VO set that is logged out when making the esa call the first explanation still stands, when you say "if I can do virtual office without taking a lots of licenses" when the set is logged out dial your ESA (999,112,911) it should get a VOLO TN

I think your confusion is that you need to configure this "Virtual Office-only IP Phones",

Description : Use this feature to configure Virtual Office-only IP Phones. Virtual Office-only IP Phones do
not use an assigned Directory Number (DN) or consume a Terminal Number (TN) license. By
default, these IP Phones are in the Virtual Office logout state. Use these IP Phones for Virtual
Office login only

HA!

That's exactly what I was looking for!

Thank you very much for the tips! I'll look into it!

With Avaya it's so easy to get lost in all the terms and documentation they use.

Thanks again!

Good morning,

I have more development on this case that might help.

After I create my range of TN of VOLO in ESA, LD 24, I was able to get my emergency TN. On the set, I put CLS VOUA and VOLA.

The only way I was able to have an emergency phone is if I Virtual Loggin to a phone using a TN already acquire by a set. Let say I have phone 1 and phone 2. Phone 1 get TN 1 and phone 2 get TN 2.

If I Log in using extension of TN 1 on phone 2, PHone 1 become an emergency phone.

I'm sure I'm close to what I'm trying to achieve but I'm still missing a piece, I can't get Virtual Office-only IP phone. Means When I boot a 1140E, put a VOLO TN on it or As it default boot to an emergency TN.

Any hint that can help me there?

Have you read & followed the book?

Yes, I did read everything on the book you suggested but found nothing. I'll give a try to download the latest documents as I'm currently following cs1000e 5.5 doc. Maybe they give more details on newest version of the doc.
