Replacing failed HDD on Logical Drive

Replacing failed HDD on Logical Drive

(OP)
The HDD in slot 1 failed and needs replacing. It's an X3250 M3 server with ServeRAID. Is it just a matter of installing the replacement drive from IBM and it will rebuild itself?

RE: Replacing failed HDD on Logical Drive

pretty much, pull the drive, wait one minute, install new drive, and in a minute or so it should go from slow blink, to all the drives in the array blinking as it rebuilds, this can be monitored on the serveraid manager software. If rebuild doesn't start in a few minutes, scan the drives again in serveraid manager, and then add the drive to the array as a global hot spare, and it should kick off a rebuild.
