Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

I'm in the midst of deploying Apps on a co-res CPMG Card and I'm a little confused in the window under Deployment manager->Element Manager Conguration.  I have two options.  The first is using the existing CS Elan IP(the only Elan IP I have configured is for the SS on the linux install).  And the second choice is the unregistered CS Elan and there it also asks for the TID of the CS.  Which do I use?

Thanks in advance!:)

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

on a co-res your elan for the sig serv is the same ip as the call server.when you deploy your em, nrs and what ever else youare uing you will have to put in the tid on this , make sure you watch what you select for the database as the first time you will pick one and it defaults back to default database the second time it asks you and you have to make sure you catch it if you are reusing.migrating an old database

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

Actually I'm building this in a lab environment.  So i was going to leave it with a default database until the day of the upgrade and I will install the customer database, I'm assuming that will work.

Thanks for the info

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

there is a way to do it after the fact and i will look fo rthe doc that I got from avaya because it wouldn't take it doing it the way the manual said to.....i just need to find it now.

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

here you go...i got this straight from 2nd lvl avaya support after having the issues with the database.

==== Upgrade Prep ====
On the 6.0 system, go to deployment manager, and backup all servers to either an SFTP host, or the deployment server.
In this case, we did it to the deployment server.

Next, we went into the deployment server, and took the file out. Later on, we can put that file back if we mess it up.

Localtion on 6.0: /var/opt/nortel/deployment/deployed/<SERVERNAME>/backup/<SERVERNAME>-<DATE>.tar.gz

==== Linux Upgrade ====
On the 6.0 (Primary Security Server) base, login with an account that has network admin credentials, like the admin account.
Type upgrade. I recommend that you backup to USB as well.

After the upgrade. Log into UCM though the web, and apply the latest patches and service packs to the system.

==== PBX Upgrade ====
Everyone should know how to do that.
After the upgrade, apply the patches.
LD 117> unreg sec domain
LD 117> reg sec domain
You're MGCs may fail to join the sec domain via reg u s.
The Call Server amy push out the new loadware to the MGC.

==== MGC Upgrade ====
Push the new firmware out from the Call Server to the MGC. It'll reboot it self.
It will register back to the call server, not UCM.
Login using local credentials (ie. Admin2 // 0000) using PuTTY (or any SSH client).
oam> statSecDomain
No Security Domain information
oam> joinSecDomain
Follow the instructions.
Questions, see capture.

==== Back to UCM ====
Your Elements List should have all your elements listed. Call Server (at 7.5), MGc (at 7.5).
You can safely delete any applications listed in the elements lists. (ie. EM, NRS, etc.)
As our systems does not have any applications deployed on it, as of yet.

==== Deploment Manager ====
Put in username and password that has network administrator access.
Add the software load.
     Go to softare load.
     It's faster to have a DVD/CD/USB that has the load on it. But, you can push from your client PC. No big Deal.
     Hit Browse. Hit Add.
Once done. Go back up to Deployment View
     Go to View: Select CS1000 Systems.
     Click Add. CS1000 - Most of your stuff. CS1000 HS - High Scaleability (Not common)
     Name your system. Find your call server.
          Co-Res, select your CPPM card for this step. Non-CoRes, select your previously registered VxWorks System.
          Click Next
     Select what systems you would like to have EM isntalled on.
     Add your signalling server to the 'system'
          You can come back later and add more.
          Note: Once they are deployed as something different, it's hard to add more infromation to it.
     Hit Finish. It'll make the system.
!!!!At this point, it's not deployed.!!!!
     To add NRS, or other network services
     Go to View: Select Network Services
     Select taht Network Serice you want to add. And Hit add.
          NRS: It'll ask for a name. Hit Next. Choose what server you'd like to deploy it to
          Subscriber Manager: It'll ask for a name. Hit next. Choose what server you'd like to deploy it to. SubMgr can only go on the primary.
     Now that we are done selecting what applications we want to be deployed onto the servers we have.
     Change your view to Server.
     Hit Commit.
!!!! At this point, you are one step away from deployment !!!!
!!!! But, we can always go back and change things if we want to !!!!
Select the server want to deploy. Select Deploy from the 'Deployment Actions' drop down.
It'll ask if we want to do it. Hit yes.
Since this is an upgrade, it'll ask if we want to restore any data to your server. It's recommnded.
Since we are deploying the primary security server/deployment manager. It won't transfer the installation files. It will for any other server.
The status will say, installation in progress. Once done, It'll say 'Deployment Successiful'
!!!! System is deployed !!!!
Go back to UCM Network Services to see your handy work. Everything should be populated correctly. Check this.
==== To add additional Signalling Servers ====
Go to Deployment Manager. Change your view to CS1000 systems.
Edit your existing system.
Hit Next to do to Signalling Servers and add the new servers
Hit finish.
Change your view to Servers
Hit commit, select your element, and hit deploy from the deployment actions dropdown.

==== After deployment ====
Patch your linux bases with the newsest service pack.
Patches, Target System, select network, select your linux base.
Select Service Pack from the list.
Select the service pack you want to load. Hit next.
Click the server, and hit activate

==== NRS Cutover ====
Go to NRS. Do to Database. Cut over. Commit. It should be fine.

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

Thanks for the info.  The database I'm trying to move over to the 1000E is from a 4.0 Opt.11C.  I have tried installing it through the deployment manager with no luck as I get a database error.  Do you have any insight?

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

I think you are upgrading to a cores System, here it is a little bit triggi, you need to use a arch_db, take your archive which you did, copy the folder under arch_db of the cf card to your pc.
So now you only can do it during deploying you callserver, (the only way getting database convertet if you miis it you need to undeploy your applications and redeploy it) be sure latest java version is running on your pc and watch your screen

RE: Installing 1000E 7.5 linux Apps querstion

In the initial installation of Linux Base, during installation on the screen question:

Do you wish to configure as the deploymente This System server: (Y/N) {N}?

we set as NO,

my question is, can install the Deployment Server independently, without having to reinstall the Linux Base.?

And if we have to reinstall everything, we can make a backup and restore everything at once. To not affect the service?
