How can I get to the tab control to completely remove or hide a tab on the Item Master screen using Flex?

RE: ES - Remove a Tab Page Using Flex

I am not sure this is possible.  Why do you want to hide an entire tab?  Why in Flex as opposed to the screen designer?

Thanks for the response.

All the controls on the tab have been hidden using the screen designer, so I felt it would be cleaner to just hide/remove the entire tab. I cannot see how to do this from the screen designer nor from Flex.

I want to delete the Logistics tab, but I cannot.  I could delete the Extra, eSynergy Item, and Engineering tabs.

Okay.  There were some 3D lines that I could not hide/remove, so I moved them to another tab and I could then delete the Logistics tab.

RE: ES - Remove a Tab Page Using Flex

Wh delete this tab?  There are fields on the logistics tab that you need to populate and you are going to see Macola start to do wierd stuff I predict.  Very bad idea.

This for an account for planners to only change min/max and related info.  The item will have already been set up by someone else with all the tabs.  Essentially, this is for a view-only account except for some stuff on the purchasing tab.

RE: ES - Remove a Tab Page Using Flex

This is possible, but you should make these display only fields, not hide them peranently.  The idea of hiding them permanently does no one any good.  And this is much more work to accomplish your orginal aim.

Some of this information is stuff we don't even want these people to see.  For these people, this is the cleanest view.

RE: ES - Remove a Tab Page Using Flex

Please elaborate.  If "seeing" is all you are interested in then deny them the menu option entirely.  What data on this tab is actually worth protecting?

We (as a business rule - I cannot change that) have a small group of people whose only ability is to see some fields on the Item Master for an existing item to modify MRP parameters.  Upper management does not even want them to see some of the data on the other tabs.  I had previously just hid everything, but we had complaints about the empty tabs (why are they there, what are they, etc).  There is another group who creates the items to begin with and they have access to everything.

For 99.9% of users, dgillz is correct in that this is not the preferred way to handle this, but depending on business rules you may find the way I ended up doing it useful.
