Displaying Access Data on Sharepoint

Displaying Access Data on Sharepoint

Displaying Access Data on Sharepoint

Hi All,
Here is what I have:

An Access 2007 db that has a table with data that I want to display on a SharePoint dashboard as both a datasheet and a chart.

Here is what I want:

The SharePoint display (both chart and datasheet) to be updated with the most current data automatically, either when someone opens the page or on a set schedule. In other words, I don't want to have to manually upload a new file everytime I want to update the data.

Now I can link/import said data to an excel spreadsheet which I can configure to automatically update itself and then use that to generate a PivotChart or I can even just setup a query to compile the data and have it ready to export into an excel file at a file path of my choosing. But everytime I try to upload the file the Sharepoint site throws an error about using external table data and the only way I have been able to get it to work is if I dump the data into excel (with no refreshable link) and manually upload the file to the SharePoint in order to get updated data.

Is what I want to do at all possible?

I appreciate any assistance you all can provide.

RE: Displaying Access Data on Sharepoint

If I'm reading the information correctly, you suggest setting up a table in SharePoint (by means of importing the data from Access) and then linking that table back to my Access db. Then using that linked table to update the data so that it will appear on the Sharepoint site...correct?

Isn't there a way to just tell the Sharepoint site to pull the data directly from the access table that I already have setup?

RE: Displaying Access Data on Sharepoint

I could be wrong but this is how I see it.

1) Create a Data View in SharePoint Designer that uses your Access DB as a data source.

2) Link to a SharePoint List from Access. Then populate that linked List with your Access data. (append query)

3) Setup a BDC connection from SharePoint to Access.
