Error Encountered when trying to close the general ledger

Error Encountered when trying to close the general ledger

(OP)
I'm an accountant, and not much of a tech-savy user, but I am our resident computer professional here. Here's my question: When I tried to close our general ledger for the month in MAS90 (Version 4) I received an error message which states: "...\weldbd\Program Files\Best\MAS 90\Version4\Mas 90\LOCK\DME" is in use by another task.

I have logged out of everything and restarted my system and am unaware of any other task that might be using MAS90. I have one inventory clerk, who is logged out of the system, and our controller, who is also logged out of the system. When I try to close on their machines, I get the same error message.

Any ideas what task might be tying up my MAS90?

I have not tried to reboot the server. I will try that today and see if it helps/solves the problem. I have had similar type error messages in the past, but it has never happened at a point in a process where we ended up "stuck" - we have always closed the prior month before continuing with current month business, so not sure if we can have employees work in the system before I get this resolved. Thanks for the suggestion!!

RE: Error Encountered when trying to close the general ledger

MAS uses two periods, current and future. If your current month is June you can process July transactions but you cannot or rather should not process August transactions until June is closed.

As for the General Ledger it is the one module you can leave open for years at a time. Most companies leave that open at least a year so they can go back and make correcting entries any time during the year.
