Extended Description Flag Cleared On Sales Order Entry Screen

When my Sales staff enters a item into the Sales Order screen, the "Extended Description Screen" will pop up on items that have an extended item. If they hit the keystroke combo below, they will "uncheck" the extended description flag(an un-editable field) and the decription will not print on the invoice. Please see line item #4 with flag and without flag, on Extended Desc.

Spacebar
Enter
Esc
Tab(repeat until cursor moves to new line)

Any thought on how to prevent this? It seems like an error with the application, more than with the customized screen.
