Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

(OP)
I work for a small web application development company that provides various custom solutions and SaaS items based on .NET using the Agile Methodology.

Our team is comprised of a general manager, operation manager, sales manager (directly managing 2 individuals), project manager (directly managing 2 programmers), and network admin sales manager (directly managing 1 individual), PCI and SAS-70 specialist

We are looking to start using some software that will be avalible to all individuals on the network - both inside and out. We are looking at:

JIRA (http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/)

SharePoint Server (http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/en-us/Pages/default.aspx)

Project Server (http://www.microsoft.com/project/en/us/project-server-2010.aspx)

Out of these listed - does anyone have experience with them. Pros and Cons of them - how they have helped or limited you in your job. I am not a PMP certified individuals, but I will be studying and taking this test in the not to distant future and am being told to find some solutions for the business.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

RE: Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

They all look a bit large-corporate to me (my world-sadly).

Have a look at http://basecamphq.com/ It comes from the womb of Ruby on Rails. Some people like it.

RE: Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

Hi there,

At the company I work for (http://www.obecto.com) we are using Assembla for project management software and Agile methodology.

RE: Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

What, exactly, are you expecting to get from the software packages?

A PMI survey (a *long* time ago, admittedly) found that the most common tool for managing a project was Excel.  The gulf between Excel and MSProject Server is substantial.

You're a very small company; as BNPMike so very correctly pointed out, the products you mention are large-corporate products.  You need a Volkswagen, not a rock star's tour bus.

Hi All
Why not have a look at www.managewithmother.com this is webbased and does what harvest and basecamp all in one. I find that their free option covers most of what I need

RE: Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

Hi, right now I use eTaskMan (http://www.etaskman.com) for my project and task management. It is a free web-based system (very convenient, I can perform task management wherever I am) and easy to use.

RE: Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

Hi All,

As regarding the best, I don't know, but my friend has suggested workforce track.  The company (telegami.com), at where my friend works, uses all-in-one project management software by workforce track.

You may have look at www.workforcetrack.com
I think that their software suits SMS businesses well.

Hi,

Have a look at http://projectorria.toolware.fr.
It's free, simple, easy to use, and fullfills your needs (at no cost).

If you are still looking, please take a look at TrackerSuite.Net (http://www.TrackerSuite.Net), our Web based suite of collaborative applications, which includes modules for Project Management and Time Reporting. You can register on the site for immediate access to a hands-on evaluation site.

I've been using http://pm-compass.com to better manage my projects. My team decided to use this because it can easily be learned. It's simple and very easy to use. It keeps us track of our projects and they are easy to navigate since projects are loaded in a single dashboard for users to see it right when they go to the dashboard.
Regards,

www.basecamphq.com is ideal if you are small team with 2-3 projects. But if you plan to grow up I'd prefer to use something more business-like - like www.comindware.com. As I said in another thread - I talked to them a couple of days ago - the promise to become something special on this market.

RE: Hosted PM Software Solutions... Which one is best?

this website http://www.freeonlineprojectmanagement.org/ has been created to help and share the free online project management software, tools, courses and templates. It should be used both in your "real world" job and in your online job.
You will find this site is focused on new web based tools for collaboration while still maintaining and teaching the base project management skills.

I have been using etaskman. formerly I used basecamphq but I think it's complicated so I switch to the easier one.
