iPhone iOS 4 not pulling Mobile field for all contacts

iPhone iOS 4 not pulling Mobile field for all contacts

iPhone iOS 4 not pulling Mobile field for all contacts.

I have a complicated question.  I'll try to explain in sufficient detail.  Please ask for more detail if needed.

iPhone 3G upgraded to run iOS4
only apps iniPhone besides the factory load:
iGone (for Out of Office Assistant)
Camera +

Exchange 2003 server
Outlook 2003
Windows XP SP3

Please note: I know that the iPhone will not pull ALL the contact fields available in Exchange, but the Mobile field is one of several that should be pulled with no problem.

iPhone is connected to an Exchange 2003 server.  We have also installed ActiveSync so we can monitor who uses an iPhone to get in Exchange.  Anyone who wants to connect to our Exchange must be configured in ActiveSync.

In Exchange, we have a Public Contacts Folder called Employee Address Book with all employees info.  This address book shows on the iPhone when I go to Contacts, then back to the All Contact Groups section. I can select that contacts group, do a search by name and pull an employee's contact card.

The problem is that for SOME contacts, the iPhone is pulling more fields than for other contacts.

Most people in the address book have a phone number in the Mobile field.  For example, my cell phone is in the Mobile field in that address book, so is John Smith's cell phone number.

When I pull my contact card on my iPhone, my Mobile number doesn't show, but when I pull john Smith's contact card, his Mobile number shows up.

So, SOME contacts show more than one phone number (work, home, mobile, etc.) and other contacts show only the work number.

Please note: I know iOS 4 does something called unified mailbox (or similar name, I don't know the precise name), where if you have the same contact in various address books, the iOS will unify all contact information in one screen.

Neither my or John Smith's contact record is anywhere else but that Exchange public folder.  We are not in my Outlook personal address book (not public) nor are we in my local iPhone Contacts list.  We are both listed only in the Exchange Public Contacts Folder.

So, why isn't the iOS pulling the Mobile field for ALL Ccontacts who have information in that field?

I tried from someone else's iPone and got the same results when looking at my and John Smith's contact record.  I don't know if the problem is iOS related or in Exchange or in ActiveSync.

Does anyone else have this problem?
