If an existing SMS 2003 hierarchy is to be extended into a new Windows 2003 AD forest, what are the implications for WINS?

From the Microsoft articles I have found, it would seem that by creating a new primary site server within the new forest the issues with sites not crossing forests can be alleviated.  However, WINS appears to be required to facilitate name resolution between the new primary site server and the original SMS hierarchy (in the other forest).

Is it only the new primary server (in the new forest) that is reliant on WINS, or will any new secondary / child site servers (in the same forest) also require WINS?
