Phaser 7300 Transfer Unit Errors

Phaser 7300 Transfer Unit Errors

Phaser 7300 Transfer Unit Errors

(OP)
Hello all.  I have unsuccessfully searched for a solution to this error.  Hopefully one of the gurus here can shed some light on the matter.

I recently had an error with the Transfer Unit on my 7300N.  It said it was near the end of its life within a week after installing it.  About a month later, the printer finally decided that the Transfer Unit had enough and told me to replace it.  Upon checking the consumables, I find that it still had 94% life remaining.

I called Xerox and they replaced my Transfer Unit for free and told me if it happens again, it may not be a defective Transfer Unit, but some sensor that will require a technician to replace.

Well, here we are a few weeks later with my new Transfer Unit at 98% life remaining, and its telling me its near the end of life.  I called my local Xerox technician and he cleaned all sensors, reset the counter, & reinitialized NVRAM.  Still the error exists!

His diagnosis was that it's a faulty transfer unit.  While this may or may not be the case, I find it improbable that I would get 2 transfer units in a row that were faulty.  Is there anything else I can do try before attempting to convince Xerox to replace another unit or just eat the cost of a new one?

Thanks in advance!
