I have an older Symmetra 8Kva, with a 2nd cabinet.
In this, the battery modules are white, not stainless steel.
Inside the modules (I have 6 total) are 10 each 12v 7Ah SLA batteries, wired up as 120V DC. So now all I have to do is find a cheap deal on 60 standard SLA's.
I don't know if the newer LX or PX use the same construction inside the battery module, but it is very likely. Certainly the Symmetra RM documentation states the modules are also 120v DC.
Yes, you should be careful with all that stored power. In my experience, though, the battery modules are well built and intended to be refurbished. With care you can remove and reassemble with new SLA's.
One practical note I can pass on. Make detailed diagrams of the wiring as you take it apart. All I can say is, it's a good thing I had six of these to practice with.
Good luck.
