I have a database of teacher observations in fmp8.5 that I want individual teachers to be able to look at only their data and have other teachers data secure from being viewed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: database security

Take a look at File>Manage>Accounts & Privileges
You can create your groups and rules there.

thanks for the reply and the suggestion but I guess I am looking  for a solution that someone has been successful in creating a file that accomplishes the secure login of one person to view data without opening up the data of others.

RE: database security

HI - I am new to the website so sorry if you have already solved this. FileMaker does do record level locking and the way to do that is to have the Access Privileges set to Limited but Calculation - ie Logon Name = Teacher Name.

Hope this helps
