TAPI "Call Contact" in Outlook 2010 on Windows 7

Hi,

I was trying to get the call contact feature to work in Outlook 2010 and found this solution:

In the following regitry locations:

Windows 7 32bit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook

Windows 7 64bit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook

Create a new KEY called Call Integration and in that key create a new DWORD called TAPIOVERRIDE with it's value set to 1:

Restart Outlook and you should now have a working call contact option, this is apperently caused by Outlook 2010 using Office Communicator as the default dialling device.

Hope this is useful :)

Well I wish I knew this last year as Avaya didn't know the answer.

I found the same with Outlook 2007 on Vista but OC actually disables the Avaya TAPI so you don't even get to select it in dialling properties. There is a Knowledgebase article on this at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959625/ but the hotfix may not work on with Outlook 2007 with updates - but Ekster's method will do the job.
