Hey guys,

Someone was telling me a about a feature in Publisher and I wonder if it exists in inDesign.

Basically, they can type text in a box and reference that data elsewhere. So, in a newsletter, on page 1, they may have "September 2010". Elsewhere, they reference that object so you can see that same info on page 3, 5, etc...

Can inDesign do this? If so, how?

Yeah you can sort of do what you are asking via the text variable option.

eg have a chapter title which uses a style sheet and use that as your running heads or footers...

so yes.
