Anybody have a solution for sending / receiving messages to a specified IP address/port? I need to interface with a commercial package from our in-house systems running RM/Cobol 11 on Linux. Need synchronous communication. Otherwise messaging middleware would be an option (maybe an expensive one). Ought to be able to write a C program to handle the socket communications and then just call it from the Cobol side. Sure seems like a lot of people ought to have crossed this bridge before, so I am hoping I can find something we can take off the shelf, rather than having to write it ourselves.
From searching previous posts, I see that AcuCobol provides a socket interface callable from Cobol. Maybe now that both AcuCobol and RM/Cobol are both under the MicroFocus roof, maybe we can get something from them.
Still any and all suggestions are welcome.
