Firefox won't open link in a new tab

Firefox won't open link in a new tab

Firefox won't open link in a new tab

(OP)
Firefox 3.6.3; Windows XP

When I search in Google, e.g., and click on a resulting link, I want to have that link open in a new tab in the same window.

I've searched extensively and can't find the answer.

Your answer to this question is appreciated!

If you need further info, let me know.

(Yes, I know how to right click and middle click; that's not the solution I want. I want the new FF to act like the old one in this instance!)

That needs Google to be set accordingly. ( Google | Search settings | Results Window [X] Open search results in a new browser window. ) Only than FireFox can be asked to open a tab instead of window. ( FireFox | Preferences | Tabs | [X] Open new windows in a new tab instead )

Note that some browser add-ons can probably do this regardless the Google and FireFox settings.

The Google trick worked; the Firefox trick was the first thing I tried before I posted here. It does not work and the blogs are full of complaints.

Thank you!!!
