TDE200 to TDE200 - 5 minute timeout issue

TDE200 to TDE200 - 5 minute timeout issue

TDE200 to TDE200 - 5 minute timeout issue

I'm new to Panasonic PBX's - but have strong Asterisk & MS OCS experience.  I can understand the concepts if not how to actually do it on the Panasonic.

In my new job, I have 3 locations with a Panasonic TDE200 at each.  The extensions at each location are logically named - all 1xx at Branch 1, all 2xx at branch 2, etc...

The PBX's can 'talk' to each other via VPN tunnels.

You can dial an extension at another locations using INTERCOM & then the number.  After 5 minutes exactly (to the second) the call is dropped.  If you call again, the call is fine until you hit the 5 minute mark - and then it drops again.

I have the software to admin the PBX's but I do not know how to troubleshoot this issue.  I would appreciate some guidence on how to proceed.

in class of service settings do you have co-ext line call duration limit enabled?

RE: TDE200 to TDE200 - 5 minute timeout issue

Thanks - & I checked that based on your info - but it turned out it was NOT the Panasonic's fault.

We use Sonicwall firewalls / vpn.  There are SIP & H323 options in the networking section of the Sonicwalls that apparently 'ease' the flow of SIP.  They are off by default.

I turned them on at all 3 locations - the 5 minute issue stopped & there has been no problems since.

RE: TDE200 to TDE200 - 5 minute timeout issue

I've heard horror stories from other techs about setups on Sonicwalls - but I found them to be fine if you take a bit of time & look in all the menus.

For example - the VoIP stuff is in the NETWORK menu, not in the firewall or vpn menu.

All the setup is GUI menu driven - it's fairly easy.

The VPN tunnels between locations is good.  Set it & forget it.

I'm in Vancouver, Western Canada.
