Dear listers,

I am having problems when connecting to my Mimer SQL 9/10 database.

I am using Mimer Data Provider 9.4.2A from my .NET application to connect. Additionally, I am using a VAR key, which I include in the connection string "...; varid=my-company-id; vac=xxx", where the xxx is obtained from a P/Invoke call to a GetVac() method in an object file we have received from Mimer.

I repeatedly open and close the connection in my application. Initially, connecting to the database works fine. However, after a few connection operations, I often get the following Mimer exception: "Authorization failure. Invalid attempt to connect." Why?

I am not sure if it is a coincidence, but the failure often seems to happen after I have temporarily activated another application.

Previously, I did not use a VAR key to connect, but I relied on the developer license that is included in the Mimer SQL installation kit. Using this license, I have never experienced the above error message. Thus, it seems that the authorization failure is in some way related to the VAR key, but I cannot figure out how.

Any help is highly appreciated.

The error message you get indicates there's a problem somewhere in the VAR connect process. I suggest you contact the Mimer support directly, they'll be able help you solving this!

Thanks for the confirmation that the error is in the VAR connect process. I have now been able to investigate further, and the problem was a silly mistake from my side. I only requested the VAC number once when I start the application. Since this number only enables a time-limited license, connection will fail after a few minutes. Lesson learned, I will not do this mistake again smile
