I have a Lexmark X5470 printer which started getting errors from my computer stating" Computer can not communicate with the printer". I tried connecting the printer to 3 different computers, uninstalled the print drivers, re-installed the print drivers(using device manager). I also changed the usb cables. It also says that the left print cartridge is missing (which it isn't). I beginning to think that the printer circuit board usb port might be bad. Anyone has any suggestions?

Yes, throw a bashing party, where the guest get to bash it with sledgehammer for say $1.00, that way you'd have some money for buying an Epson, HP, Brother or Cannon instead...

in other words, it does not work on 3 PCs with different cables, then ged rid of it and get a replacement...

How to ask a question, when posting them to a professional forum.
Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

Ben's suggestion gives the most satisfaction. But you could try checking the user manual, or the technical specs on their website to see if there's a facility for setting it back to manufacturer's defaults. Other than that, it's probably a bin job I'm afraid...

I have three Brother printers (two mine - one from a friend), all with the same "Error 41". According to the factory, "that is a bad print head - just mail the printer back and for a small charge we will replace the print head"! Chure I will! A new printer is cheaper than the shipping and repair costs!

I despise how cheaply made home printers are these days. I own an HP 882C that I bought in '98 for $300.00 and it still works as well as it did new. I just finished printing 600 Excel pages in B&W on it and it didn't miss a lick - except for needing to pop in an HP 45 cartridge a couple of times. I get them refilled at Walgreens. I'm going to cry when it finally does die and I have to spring for the cheap crap with the overpriced print cartridges.
