project managment website?

project managment website?

project managment website?

I used to work for a company that created a site completely running all aspects of our production, sales, artist proofs, warehouse, and in-house-logistics work flow.

I am at a new place of work but our project management is lacking and I was wondering what I should be looking at here.  I have also attached a link to a image of essentially what I worked with in that website.

Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful as we are preparing to increase work flow with very little mistakes this year.  Thank you

P.S. I work in Garment printing industry.  We have fast deadlines and manage a large amount of orders per day.

RE: project managment website?

There are several 'things' that might fit the bill for what you're looking for.  You might be able to do most of this with a PM System, but based on your descriptions and the linked image, I'd suggest that your needs and workflow might be more suited to a CRM system or perhaps even an ERP system, many of which now run from a web browser.

How big is the 'user base'?  The users that will be following this workflow and processing these tasks.  2 people in a single room sitting across from each other can adapt and adjust much easier than a 1000 person user base located in different time zones speaking different languages.

How critical/intricate is the work flow?  Are there many complex steps done by different individuals that must be processed in the correct sequence?  Also thinking about this from the backwards direction can help - are the holes/pitfalls were something might not get done because the responsible party didn't know, wasn't informed, unusual proceedure wasn't conveyed or articulated clearly, etc.

Are there other aspects that would be logical to include in the undertaking of this system?  Customer contact information, sales leads or quotations, problem tracking, costing (manufacturing/processing/materials/etc)

What addition infrastructure is available to apply to this system?  IT resouces available for setup/creation/configuration, IT resouces available for ongoing, normal business tasks, and of course budget for implementation and user training etc.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, what would be the management commitment to undertaking steps to acccomplish these goals?
