NAV attachment blocking

NAV attachment blocking

I am using NAV 2.0 for MS Exchange 5.5

My question really is directed towards internal vs external mail. I have users that need to send script, html, etc extensions INTERNALLY, but still want to block internet messages from containing them. Is there a way to do this? or is it all or nothing with the registry fixes Symantec notes on their site?

RE: NAV attachment blocking

Using Symantecs registry settings to block attachments it is all or nothing. However they should be able to zip the files up and if they password protect the zip they will not be scanned.

RE: NAV attachment blocking

The issue actually is with emails that are interactive. HTMLs with script that are intended to be viewed by employees, so zipping will not help this situation. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Plus, this version is 2.0, not 2.1, so the registry key change must be different than the online notes at Symantec. Does anyone know the correct key changes?

RE: NAV attachment blocking

This option is not even supported unless you are running version 2.1 or above. Looks like you will have to upgrade if you want NAV to block attachments.

RE: NAV attachment blocking

K Thanks!!

RE: NAV attachment blocking

There are other filterring solutions to be used instead of NAV attachment blocking.
Some are free from Microsoft, and some are 3rd party and have much more options.

I don't have links right now, but search the net and also ask in the Exchange forum.
