Cropping Extra Text

Cropping Extra Text

Cropping Extra Text

Hello, I'm really new to using CS, and illustrator especially. I apologize if this is too simple or a repeat.
Making a logo and part of it is a script G inside of a rounded square. Only some of the G is showing.. or is supposed to show. You can't tell the extra is there if the background is the same color as the G but if there is a shadow or different color background it's visible
 How Do I Get Rid Of The Extra?

iIf I inserted the pic wrong you can see it here too- http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=j3gk2m0nmdy&;thumb=4&r=wvzlo

RE: Cropping Extra Text

There are a few ways to do this, maybe try clipping paths first. In this case:

* Select the rounded square
* Double-click the 'Scale' tool, setting the scale to 100%, and press the 'Copy' button instead of OK. This will create a new rounded square exactly the same size and position as the original one.
* With the new square still selected, go to Object > Arrange > Bring To Front.
* Leave the square selected, then shift-select the 'G' so that both the front square and G are selected.
* Go to Object > Clipping Path > Make.

That should do it, although I don't have Illustrator in front of me right now, so apologies if some of the menu items are incorrect. There are other ways too, for example, using the Pathfinder tools. See how you get on.

RE: Cropping Extra Text

This worked thank you very very much!
