The Lenovo Affair - great read !

(OP)
The challenges, including changing the economic system of their country, were unbelievable. I highly recommend a new title, 'The Lenovo Affair'  subtitled 'the growth of China's computer giant and its takeover of IBM-PC' by  Ling Zhijun, translated by Martha Avery. ISBN 0470821930.
If you liked Tracy Kidder's 'Soul of a new machine' - this is the business management and economic version - in an environment hostile to capitalism, profit, and private property.  I ran into it on the New Books shelf of my local public library.
Caution - it's a bit slow reading at first, partly because all of the names are chinese - but it's very well written, and it doesn't seem like they could possibly succeed, but they do!
