Overwriting announcements in announcement board

Overwriting announcements in announcement board

Overwriting announcements in announcement board

(OP)
I've got an announcement board on our G3.  I believe this allows a total of 240 seconds (4 minutes) of recording time.  There is no available counter to query how much time has been used up.  I'm in the process of piling on some announcements.  My question is:

What will happen when I reach the limit.  Will it simply not allow or not record the full message, or will the system overwrite another message.

Thanks

Avaya's recommondation is to not use the last 10 sec. of the announcement board.

Nice tip - thanks

Any idea why?

RE: Overwriting announcements in announcement board

I've been told that this is to be able to swap memory allocation in case of bit errors. Pretty much the same as on harddrives, when you have a faulty sector the data is moved (or should be moved..) and the sector is marked as bad.
We never had any problems though on boards that were fully used (at least none that could be directed to this).

RE: Overwriting announcements in announcement board

Another tip is always erase a new Announcement board, this is because there are 2 test messages on it from the factory

RE: Overwriting announcements in announcement board

A lot of the responses are very good. The time issue isn't a problem with some, and it is with others.
although some documents say you can delete from a sat terminal, it should never be done.Always you a phone with console permissions and always delete before re-recording. To see all announcements and the times remaining use display integrated. If your board fails due to corruption and test 209 fails, display errs, err type 14 points to the announcement that is bad.
