All,

I am an SMS newbie, just installed the administrator console.  I see next to Site Database it has the correct server name.  When I attempt to open the Queries folder, its empty.  I'm told by my coworkers that this folder should be populated with entries from the server.

any ideas why this would happen?

Actually, all of the folders are empty.  some of them have plus signs next to them when I first open the console but when I click on them nothing happens.

RE: folders are empty

It's because you don't have permissions on the SMS server, either you're not a member of the SMS Admins Group or your name hasn't been specifically added to the SMS Server as an Admin (I don't know how you do your site admin).

are there separate permissions somewhere within SMS? my account is a domain admin, and therefor a local admin on the server.

ok, so I can rdp onto the actual SMS server, open the console and see everything using the same credentials using on my pc.

I can see the security rights container and I checked the rights for my account...everything is checked so I should have full SMS permissions.

Still, it doesn't work on my PC but it does work on the server itself.  the account is the same.

any other ideas?

RE: folders are empty

Yes there are, its under the Security Rights tab.

You will need to get the current SMS Admin to either add you to the server or to the SMS Admin Group (you should hopefully have an SMS Admin Group role in AD, if not then I suggest creating one, adding it to the SMS Server as a Full Admin and that way you just need to administer that group rather than via SMS).
