Easytrieve RECORD-COUNT versus logical I/Os

Easytrieve RECORD-COUNT versus logical I/Os

Easytrieve RECORD-COUNT versus logical I/Os

Hi, this is my first post here ... please be gentle :)

At this time, I have no Easytrieve testing facility within reach, so, there it goes:

In Easytrieve, the system field "RECORD-COUNT" is defined as "a read-only four-byte binary field which contains the number of logical I/O operations performed to the file".

My doubt is, when one performs a "READ" followed by a "WRITE UPDATE" on the same file record, what should be the contents of RECORD-COUNT after each I/O?

Moreover, if one performs a "WRITE DELETE" on the same record, what happens to RECORD-COUNT?

Bottom line: what should be understood as a "logical I/O"?

Thank you all for any hint!
