Linksys WRT54G Router configuration

(OP)
Hi All,
I am using an ADSL connrction for internet cobnnection with a Siemens ADSL Modem.
I also have a Linksys WRT54G Router and would like to use it as access point so my other laptops can share the internet connection at home.
I use a user name and password to connect to my ISP.I have also been given an IP toset on my laptop.
When i connect my ADSL modem lan cable to INTERNET port of my Linksys WRT54G Router:
1-I can not connect to internet using the wired ports in the Linksys WRT54G Router .
2-I can not connect to internet wirelessly either.

Can anyone advise how I am suppose to set the settings on the Linksys WRT54G Router ?
Thanks

RE: Linksys WRT54G Router configuration

I put my dsl modem in bridge mode, and set up PPOE in the router with my user name and password.

After a lot of googling the problem was resolved.Good to know that the linksys are known to be troublesome.
But my network is now up and running.
