Squashed printouts?

Squashed printouts?

Squashed printouts?

(OP)
help... we have just done out studio updates to 10.5.5 and now when we print from some of our work stations all run-outs seem to be squashed!

Any ideas? We are running CS2 and up till now have never experienced this..

RE: Squashed printouts?

...there is a known CUPS issue with 10.5.5...

...this problem is still being investigated, one possible workaround is to replace the "pstops" file in /usr/libexec/cups/filter with one from a 10.5.4 machine...

...to find the "pstops" file do a search in leopard to include system files (by default leopard doesn't search these areas)...

...here is more info from Adobe about the CUPS issue:

...worth also noting that the "pstops" in leopard is important, so ensure you have machines backed up before replacing this with the one from 10.5.4...

...do note the above advice i have given has helped a number of users, so is tried and tested, however your situation might be different...

...and of course, if none of these suggestions or workarounds work, then Apple are on the case, so if possible you can wait until 10.5.6, but in the meantime you might have to revert back the OS if you can't hang around...

...another area i forgot to mention is to check that you have the latest security update installed, if not, install it and try printing again...

...if you still have issues, then try the above workarounds...
