RE: Ubuntu 8.04 not seeing 2GB RAM Upgrade

Has the kernel been compiled with high memory support? When compiling, you can choose 1GB, 4GB, or 64GB. It sounds to me like 1GB is selected (and would explain why only 1GB is seen.)

How would I check that or is there a way to recompile the kernel to see the 2GB RAM?
This is an OEM install of Ubuntu on a Dell..though I have the Ubuntu CD handy if needed for recompiling the kernel

Have you tried reinstalling the kernel from the ubuntu repository?

You might get better luck on dealing with kernels on the ubuntu forums.
