Unable to restore without catalog.

Unable to restore without catalog.

Unable to restore without catalog.

(OP)
Product : Backupexec for Netware Version 8.5
OS = Netware 4.01
Backup Device (manufacturer) = HP

Problem : After taking a backup .. if we delete the catalog & try to restore from the tape.. we are not able to restore.
For ex.. if we need to restore data from a cartridge on which the backup was performed about 2-3 months back .. we are not able to restore. Wheras the recent 2-3 days (backed up cartridges) can be restored without any problem.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards
Kiran

RE: Unable to restore without catalog.

    What you need to do it re-catalog that tape. Go to your Job Manager screen (no job should be running). Next press Enter while on the Session Status screen (as opposed to the Message screen). This will take you to the Utilities Menu. On this menu is the Catalog Tape option. Put your tape in the drive and select this option. Just follow the on-screen prompts.

    Hope this helps.
