Mod function returns over flow error

Mod function returns over flow error

Can someone please help me by explaining why this statement returns an error mesaage in vb. the digits are also double variables
dim a as double

a = 446763600000  mod 31536000
returning overflow
Thank you

RE: Mod function returns over flow error

The Mod operator or the integer division operator "\" will produce an overflow if either operand is larger than 231 - 1 = 2,147,483,647.

You need to do it this way

446763600000 - Int(446763600000/31536000) * 31536000

RE: Mod function returns over flow error

Thank you very much, it worked
