Creating a .EXE to open programs

I was wondering if it is possible to create an executable that opens various programs for me?  It would be nice to just run the .exe and have all of my ten programs open up automatically.

let me know if this is possible

And a batch file wouldn't work for this because?

There are several free tools that can do that for you, Google is your friend.
