G3Si R. 3.1 & Announcement Data Modules
G3Si R. 3.1 & Announcement Data Modules
(OP)
I'm trying to create a data module on an R.3 switch for use with "sav ann" but keep getting "Announcement data module not available" back. The ann. data module definitely exists (as do the 4 netcons). Additionally, the circuit pack a volatile TN750B, is in the right slot 01b02.
Any ideas please ?
Giles.

RE: G3Si R. 3.1 & Announcement Data Modules
check if your ITC on your datemodule is unrestricted.
when you enter the command "list conf all" and see the
announcement board than you have 17 channels.
channel 1-16 are for your announcements and 17 is the dataport.
when you add a datamodule for an announcement board you can only enter the board location en not the port (port 17).
Although announcement port 5 and data line circuit port 17 on the announcement circuit pack are logically two separate ports, they are physically the same port.
Therefore, if one of the ports is in use, the other one will be busy. Also, if announcement port 5 is
out-of-service, the data line circuit port will be taken
out-of-service.
However, if the data line circuit port is out-of-service, the announcement port will remain in-service.
Use the status data-module command to check the status of the announcement data module.

RE: G3Si R. 3.1 & Announcement Data Modules
because you have a R.3 switch and don't have that option.
FYI.
ITC (Information Transfer Capability)
restricted:
1.544 Mbps --> ami-zcs
2.048 Mbps --> ami-basic
Either restricted or unrestricted transmission facilities are used to complete the call. A restricted facility is a transmission facility that enforces 1’s density digital transmission (that is, a sequence of 8 digital zeros are converted to a sequence of 7 zeros and a digital 1).
unrestricted:
1.544 Mbps --> b8zs
2.048 Mbps --> hdb3
Only unrestricted transmission facilities are used to complete the call. An unrestricted facility is a transmission facility that does not enforce 1’s density digital transmission (that is, digital information is sent exactly as is).
