Highlighting Text Filled with Background

(OP)
I have an image on which I want to place text with a black border and filled with the background- I have gotten that far. Now, I want to do something to make the text more visible from the background- for example, create a white background with soft edges where it meets the existing background either outlining the letters or the entire text element. Help with this and/or other suggestions with the how to are more than welcome.
The final image is to be printed on tee shirts.
I am using Pro X2

Thanks

RE: Highlighting Text Filled with Background

you could probably use the opacity percentage for that.  If you have a layer palette, somewhere on there you should be able to adjust the visibility in that specific layer.
