How do I resize a selected area of a picture

How do I resize a selected area of a picture

How do I resize a selected area of a picture

(OP)
I have an area of my picture highlighted with the selection tool.  If I choose the resize option then it resizes the whole picture and not just the selection.  Is there any way I can resize just the selected area?  I want to be able to do it so I can resize with specific measurements, rather than dragging to resize, which it doesn't seem to let you do anyway.  I'm using PSP V7, thanks.

RE: How do I resize a selected area of a picture

I'm not exactly sure what you want:
But assuming you just want a part of an image to be resized
you would need to separate the area from the picture, to resize it.

Copy and paste into a new picture and then resize the section.

What exactly is it you wish to accomplish?

I'm trying to resize part of an image, with the rest of the image staying as it is.  So yes, as you say, I think I have to  separate it, resize it, and paste it back in.  Thanks anyway.

RE: How do I resize a selected area of a picture

You do realize that if you resize the section, it will no longer fill the part it did before, and will leave gaps, probably leave the image looking strange.

Well the idea was to create a DVD inlay sleeve, and I wanted to widen the spine area in the middle of the image, but keep the front and back parts the same.

You are going to have to cut it up, modify it, and then paste it all back together.

Yeah I think that's the only way by the looks of it.
