How to edit the dataenvironment.asa?

(OP)
I need to change the dataenvironment.asa file in our project.  The database for the application is being changed and the file needs to be updated.

It first wont allow me to open it, I'm assuming because it's in the _private folder.  When I copy and paste it into another folder, it will open as a few lines of text and then a bunch of gargeled characters, mostly boxes (same thing if I just open the file with notepad).

How do you go in and edit the dataenvironment.asa file?

(I am working in Visual InterDev 6.0)
