remove spaces

hi all
i need to remove spaces from the list
from ((5) (M i l a n) (n e w y o r k)) --> ((5)(Milan)(new york))

i tried with string-trim but i didn't understand how wxactly works!

OR in other way

from the text file input
5.Milan.new york. -->((5)(Milan)(new york))
note that there's a space in "new york" and i need it!!

please help me!

RE: remove spaces

A list isn't a string, so you can't remove spaces from it (unless your list is actually storing space characters).

You'll probably want to iterate over every character and split it up manually by period characters, then split it up by space characters.
