Contribute CS3 freezes in Windows

We recently purchased a 10-user license for Contribute CS3 and have had no luck getting it to work. It runs very slowly on our Windows XP computers. All of our computers are fairly new with at least 1 GB of RAM and plenty of space. After taking several minutes to download a page to be edited, it then freezes up completely when you try to publish. I cannot unfreeze it without CTRL-ALT-DEL, and then it leaves alot of junk in the Draft Console, as if there were alot of files edited. I have uninstalled and re-installed, and even rebuilt the user keys, but no luck. Any ideas as to what is causing the problem? I have never had such poor performance from Contribute before, and I have been using it since version 1.0. I also currently have several users who have versions 3 or 4 and are not having this problem. Any ideas as to where to go from here would be appreciated.
