NBX 3000: All ports busy - must reboot server

NBX 3000: All ports busy - must reboot server

NBX 3000, approximately 45 phones
Version: R5_0_28
Created: Nov 16 2006

The system was stable close to 2 years, and this is a new problem that has sprung up.

On random occasions, we get "All ports busy" displayed on the phones and there is not fix short of rebooting the server (takes 30 minutes usually).  No outgoing or incoming calls can be made (busy signal both ways).

3COM support has reviewed the logs each time, and the only thing that shows is 2 phones repeatedly trying to connect back to the server, but that is about it.  It is never consistently the same phones. - and trust me, the lines are not all being used.

Also, when this happens, the T1 status shows as "unknown".

Now there have been problems on the Telco side when their box was destroyed by a vehicle or something like that, so I am wondering if it is possible that they made some T1 changes that could have introduced a problem????    Not sure exactly what to search for and 3Com hasn't really lead the way.

Any suggestions?

Good to see R5_0_31 is public as it wasn't a few weeks ago.  I moved to R5_0_28 to try and fix the problem (per the support rep), so I am skeptical that any of the R5 releases will help.

R6 is somethng to think about, but I generally don't like to add more new variables without knowing what is causing the problem.

I have a little more info.....

We have been able to narrow down that the problem is a "WINK" issue and that lines are not being released after the call has ended.

Still don't know how to resolve it and why it has become and issue - short of trying the updated software.

i have the same problem up R6_0_40 , with R6_0_44 no more problem.

thank

RE: NBX 3000: All ports busy - must reboot server

Try changing the Wink wait timer to 3000.  I had a similar problem and this fixed it.

Can you can change this on the NBX side, or is that something done by the T1 provider?

RE: NBX 3000: All ports busy - must reboot server

Change it in T1 Groups in NetSet.

I have updated to R5_0_31 Created: Mar 1 2007  and made the Wink changes from 1000 to 3000.

I will post back if the problem reoccurs.

Thanks for the help thus far!!!
