Performance of Struts Tiles for larger websites

(OP)
My employer has a relatively large internet/external website currently based on Struts 1.1, containing approximately 1000 JSPs. We are in the design stage of refactoring the JSPs to promote a common look and feel by applying common common headers and footers, etc. We are considering the use of Struts Tiles as the templating mechanism for this refactoring.

Does anyone have experience or advice about the performance, or memory consumption of Struts Tiles supporting a large number of JSPs? Our site may grow to need several thosand JSPs over the next few years.
