ITMU Sync Tool Failed to Download

(OP)
Hi All,

Past few weeks I have been having issues with ITMU sync. When looking in the WUSSyncXML.log the following errors can be found.

Download failed - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=74689
Sync tool failed to download "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=74689".  Error code: 1

When i try the http link in IE it works fine. Atr first i thought it may of been a credentials issue as we have recently change the password of our SMS Service account, so i ran the patchdownloader.exe with the new credentials.

Even when i run the sync command manually through a command prompt the error occurs.

It is worth mentioning that the sync host and SMS Primary Site have just recently had 2003 SP1 installed.

Hoping someone can suggest something else to try.

Thanks,
John

RE: ITMU Sync Tool Failed to Download

Was it installed to use your user ID or the machines when downloading?  I have seen in the past where it stopped working when my account was "expire or disabled) and wouldnt start working again untl I re-ran the advert again.

Make sure if it is machine rights that you have the proxy settings in IE
