Hear fax sound after 4 rings

Hear fax sound after 4 rings

Hear fax sound after 4 rings

(OP)
I have NBX 3000 and after 4 rings i hear a fax sound, like a fax machine, not our AA. It had worked for over a year and now it does not. We have 2 fax machines hooked to a phone number that is not routed through the phone system at all, and they do not show any activity when i hear the fax sound.

Thanks for any help.

RE: Hear fax sound after 4 rings

All phones or just one phone.
What is the call forwarding set to? AA or Voicemail
Is it in a huntgroup?

DP
Another hurricane season is upon us.
Do you feel lucky?

The line rings on all phones in the hunt group. A few of the phones hear the phone ring on the first 3 rings, after that it get kicked over to another hunt group, uncluding the first, that hears it ring 3 more times than it gets kicked to an uotbound number (which is an answering service). We hear the fax noise after 4 rings.

RE: Hear fax sound after 4 rings

The NBX does not provide faxtone. Do you have a fax machine plugged into your ATA and is the ATA in the hunt group?

If not then the number you are forwarding to either is a fax or modem or is set to forward to one.

Thanks for the suggestions. We ended up just creating a new hunt group for everything and it worked. Not sure still why it was doing that, possibly an old forward that although we disabled did not get fully removed(maybe a bug).
