Conditional formatting

Conditional formatting

(OP)
Hi,
I'm new to Visio and would like to use Excel-type conditional formatting for shapes, based on data passed from a spreadsheet.  I came upon this thread which suggested that this is possible, but there is no explanation as how to achieve it.

thread172-1151333

Can anyone shed some light on this?  I have seen that this functionality is available in Visio2007, but I'm limited to Visio2003.

The thread seems to suggest that VBA isn't required, but if it is neccesary, please advise.

Thanks,
H

RE: Conditional formatting

The link provide is broken.  Do you have a better source?

RE: Conditional formatting

The article in question involves placing
=Lookup(Prop.Status,"Black;White;Red;Green;Blue;Yellow")
in the cell for the colour. The cell expects a number ofr a colour and this formula will take the contentof Custom Property Status and convert it to a number by looking it up in the list of colours.

There are many ways of applying custom formatting within Visio, this just shows an example of basing the colour on a Custom Property.
