"Data Source" takes a long time

"Data Source" takes a long time

Hi all,

Question: Is there any way to speed up View Source in InfoMaker?

Background Detail: Some customers are reporting that when they edit InfoMaker reports, the "View Source" takes a long time to produce the SQL (both in graphical and syntax modes).

I have investigated this internally, and it seems that InfoMaker (and this applies to version 9.0.1 build 7119 and version 10.5 build 4523) is trying to execute the SQL whenver you try to take a look at it.

Sometimes the delay before seeing the SQL can be quite significant - over 1 minute.

I'm sure there was an option somewhere that caused View Source to come up lightning fast, but (a) I can't find it now, and (b) it also turned off all syntax checking, meaning that you could get away with silly errors in your SQL and save them .... only to have them manifest themselves later as run-time errors.

For the database, we are using Oracle 10g, on which the problem is really bad in some cases.  Formerly we were using Oracle 9i, which was quite bad but not as bad as 10g.  Obviously, because of this, we are having to use the CBO because the RBO (which we've always used up to now) is deprecated.

Thanks in advance!
