Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

I am hanging on tightly to Sidekick 2.0, but is crashing more and more when entering appts. in the calendar.  More often on days other than "today".  I think it might be video related, as when I switch to 256 colors in the comptability wizard of Windows XP, it crashes less often but still crashes.  Any fix ideas?

RE: Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

Dear Sidekicker,

What is the error message and which version of Sidekick and Windows are you using?

Regards Jim

RE: Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

Mmmm, Sorry about that Sidekicker I obviously didn't read your post too well.....
Never mind, my advice would still be:
Go to Sidekick98 you can keep all your data and the computer you have now can run Sidekick98 10 times as fast as the original one ran Sidekick 2.0.....
Well, give or take a factor of 5, although it does occur to me that I am hardly in a position to advise an upgrade, I am still hanging on to 98 you to Sidekick95(ish) my favourite version (Internet sidekick) is nearly as old...
Oh well!
But I hasten to point out it does not crash on WinXP.

Good Luck Sidekicker

RE: Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

Is Sidekick98 as pleasant graphically as 95?  That's ONE of the reasons I prefer Sidekick over ACT or Outlook--it has a much more human feel to it.

I wish there was an easy way to associate files with tasks, appts, etc., though.

RE: Sidekick 2.0 Crashes when entering appts.

Dear Sidekicker,

Create a folder on your c drive called Jobs and keep all your files in there.
Create a new Field called Jobpaths and make sure most of your job files have no spaces in their names and then you can put the full path as in
So you can double-click on that field to select it all, copy it and then paste it into the Winkey+R Run box and then press enter and your file will open in whatever program it is associated with.
If you ever change your data over to Access / Outlook or whatever, they should work in those programs too.

Your mileage may vary but even if you have gaps in the file names just put "" around the entire path in which case you can save the files anywhere, but the double-click won't work to select the entire path but it does not take too much to select it all.
