How to unlock rs-232 on tvs WITHOUT restart (works)

(OP)
I posted a thread not too long ago on my panasonic tvs rs-232 port maint. port being locked up. I was told by panasonic and almost everyone I talked to that I would prob have to re-initialize the switch or change out the hard drive (panasonic's method for more revenue) The way I unlocked it without re-installing or reprogramming is you have to power it down then unplug the hard drive ribbon cable and power cable, wait 5 minutes, plug it back in then power up and the rs-232 port is now unlocked. Whew, thought I would pass that on to all. ( I NEVER take panasonic's word, this is prob the 5th or 6th time they told me bogus info so they can earn more cash)
