AE crashes in Win ME importing DV footage

AE crashes in Win ME importing DV footage

I've got After Effects 5.0 (original, not pirated) running under Win ME. When I try to import DV PAL footage into AE 5.0 I get a messagebox saying "abnormal error..." and the program crashes. Lot's of other types of footage works OK and the program seems fine except for this. If I convert the footage to other formats it can be imported OK.

I also run AE4.1 on the same system without any problems with DV footage. Also I tried installing AE from the same CD on an other computer running Windows 98 - importing DV works fine there. Any ideas?

RE: AE crashes in Win ME importing DV footage

hi - i had same problem

the answewr is on the adobe website - if you choose to import the "footage as" then select quicktime.... then import the movie - then it will import DV

has something to do with sfter effects not using dirext x - which the DV compression does
