Need to scan a carriage return

Need to scan a carriage return

Need to scan a carriage return

(OP)
I need to scan a carriage return.  I do not want to code my scanner to do the carriage return automatically after the scan.  The reason being that sometimes I need to scan one, two or maybe three barcodes before I need the carriage return.

I want the user to have a print out of the carriage return bar code taped to their computer so they can scan the "carriage return" barcode when needed which will eliminate the need to let go of the scanner and hit the enter key.

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

I am using a Symbol LS2208 scanner and the carriage return bar code was included in the pdf for the product manual. This may be specific to the hardware device, i don't know. I would suggest that you contact the scanner manufacturer.

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

I need to accomplish the same. Were you able to get it to work per the contents of the PDF suggested in the post ? The "Enter" barcode in the PDF did not work for me.

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

you have to reprogram your barcode to enter CR after each entry, if you read through the programming part, you should see something referencing that, you can also try calling the manufacturer and getting the manuals/setup guides from them.

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

Thanks. But that is exactly what I CAN NOT do based on my application!

I need to scan several barcodes (one after another WITHOUT carriage-return after each scan), then when I am done with scanning the set of barcode only then submit a carriage-return.

Any ideas ?

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

Can't you make a barcode using code 128A symbology?

An "m", chr(109), should be a CR in 128a.

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

It just occurred to me that embedding a CR in the data still wouldn't cause the scanner to transmit. Sorry.

RE: Need to scan a carriage return

just a thought
can you add a TAB and have it do the same thing?
